The word Bihar is derived from the ancient word "Vihara" which means monastery. It is a land of monasteries, where the two major religions – Buddhism and Jainism – took birth, where India's first major empires rose and fell, where the ruins of the worlds' earliest university slumber in the void of time. The tourist destinations of Bihar can be divided into various circuits like Buddhist Circuit which includes Vaishali, Patna, Rajgir, Pawapuri, Bodhgaya, Nalanda and Kesaria.
